Multiple events in celebration of the singer's life are scheduled next week in Detroit. They're expected to draw dignitaries, musicians and other high-profile figures from around the world.
That includes a funeral service Friday, Aug. 31. A pair of public visitations will take place earlier in the week. The Free Press will provide live coverage of all events, memorials and celebrations throughout the week.
