Spurs Dominate Heat to Take Commanding 3 - 1 Lead in 2014 NBA Finals
After the San Antonio Spurs man-handled the Miami Heat in Game 3 of the NBA Finals on Tuesday night, everyone expected the Heat to respond in Game 4 Thursday night in a big way to tie up the series 2 -2 on their home court.
However, the Spurs had other plans and came out with the urgency like they were down in the series and again dominated the whole game winning 107 - 86. They played harder than the Heat and smarter. The Spurs ball movement is a thing of beauty and all 13 of the Spurs players that dressed for the game scored. That is highly remarkable for an NBA finals game and a very rare feat which also shows that it was not a close game in the end for Coach Pop to clear his bench. Kawhi Leonard led the way for the Spurs again with 20 points and 14 rebounds for his second straight big game. Tony Parker added 19 points for the Spurs.
Lebron James had a quite first half, but came alive in the third quarter and ended up with 28 for the game. James was the only Heat player to show up though as no other player on the Heat was in double figures in scoring until midway through the fourth quarter. Dwyane Wade had another sub-par game shooting just 3 for 13 for 10 points. This was the first time since 2012 that the Heat have lost back to back games in the Playoffs. It hurts even more that it was two straight home games.
The Spurs now take a commanding 3-1 lead in the NBA Finals and can finish the job and win their fifth championship with a victory at home in Game 5 on Sunday. The Heat would have to become the first team to overcome a 3-1 deficit in the NBA Finals to win their third straight championship.
