Carman Licciardello's New CD Delayed Due to Latest Cancer Diagnosis

Carman Licciardello or more commonly known as Carmen has garnered 10 platinum records over his lengthy career. However, recently the singer has been battling discouragement after discovering a tumor on his shoulder. While preparing for his upcoming surgery to remove a possible cancerous tumor on his shoulder, the stress and discouragement have delayed the release of his new CD.
Carman wrote on Facebook: "Now they want to postpone the tumor removal surgery from April 28 to May 8. (Ugh) Who knows why. Maybe it's something they saw on the tests. I don't know, but it's starting to really get to me now. This cancer battle is no joke. It wears you thin."
"I will tell you, when you're hurting and fighting off the hand of death, to continue to give out, to make music, to do concerts is really hard. Raising funds is always laborious. The expectations of any new CD is high but the donations are slow in coming. And when you know you have to encourage people when you're discouraged with you latest diagnosis, that makes it near impossible."
But Carman assured his fans that he will carry on because of the outpouring of support he's received from others. "I'm trying to live up to all the grand messages I wrote in my own songs, but I'll be honest, some days it's really, really hard," Carman said.
Between 1987 and 1989, Carmen was named Charisma magazine's readers' choice for favorite male vocalist. In 1990 and 1992, Billboard recognized Carman's influence in Christian music by naming him the Contemporary Christian Artist of the Year, and in 1995, he recorded his first album in Spanish, Lo Mejor, which includes some of the already recorded songs such as "Who's in the House" and "The River".
Carman has received 15 gold and platinum albums and videos and has sold over 10 million records. He holds the world record for the largest single Christian concert in history. He was the main act in August 1993 in Johannesburg, South Africa with more than 50,000 in attendance, and he performed at Texas Stadium with 71,132 attendees.
Beyond music, he participates in various television productions and interview duties as a host for both the Trinity Broadcasting Network in general and its flagship program Praise the Lord. In 2001, Carman starred in the film Carman: The Champion.
