George Jones Biography 'The Legend of George Jones' Available Now, New Book and Album 2014
Country Music lost the legendary George Jones one year ago and now Charlene and Earl "Peanutt" Montgomery remember their best friend of thirty years with The Legend of George Jones: His Life and Death (Heritage Builders Publishing) - a new, tell-all biography and companion album. Released earlier this month, the book is selling out nationwide and is now in its second printing.
With The Legend of George Jones, Charlene and Peanutt wanted to set the record straight about their friend who died on April 26, 2013. Throughout Jones' life, the tabloids chronicled his struggle with personal demons and often painted a less-than-flattering picture. In the book, which is endorsed by all of George Jones' children, Charlene and Peanutt tell it like it is and make no excuses, but they document the real heart and soul of George Jones.
Charlene and Peanutt are currently on a national media tour, with stops from coast to coast, including Bill Martinez Live, Life Lessons Radio, Drew Marshall Show, Glen Biegel Show, Marybeth Conley Show, Coastal Daybreak, Sirius/XM's Elvis Radio, Dispatch Radio, The Curtis Report, Live at 9 (Memphis), More at Midday (Nashville) and many more.
From humble beginnings playing the guitar and singing on the streets of Beaumont, Texas, George Jones became one of the most important and influential singers in music history. The Grammy Award-winning Country Music Hall of Fame and Grand Ole Opry member was the voice behind many of Country music's most enduring hits, such as "White Lightning," "She Thinks I Still Care," "Walk Through This World With Me," "The Door," "I Was Country When Country Wasn't Cool" and "He Stopped Loving Her Today," which is widely regarded as one of the greatest country music singles of all time.
Peanutt wrote seventy-three songs for George Jones including some of his best-loved number one hits. Charlene, Peanutt's wife and partner, is a prolific songwriter in her own right, and she had a personal relationship with Jones that spanned decades, and she remains today a revered and beloved friend of all the Jones children.
Among the book's highlights include: The attempted murder of Peanutt by George Jones, the culprits who brought Jones to bankruptcy, and his knees, are revealed and the unexplained mysteries concerning Jones' fifth wife Nancy, and the way that his children were treated at his funeral.
The book also includes a CD of nine popular Peanutt Montgomery/George Jones hits plus two previously unreleased songs, newly recorded by some of country music's top players.
