Trae Edwards Talks About the Orlando Massacre and How His New Single Brings Hope
Trae Edwards first stepped into the spotlight with his 2013 debut album, "I Believed," and followed that up in 2015 with the VOICES project (which he co-produced), featuring performances by Edwards as well as Larry Gatlin and the Gatlin Brothers, Joe Bonsall of Oak Ridge Boys, Michael English, "American Idol" winner Bo Bice, William Lee Golden of Oak Ridge Boys, Larry Stewart of Restless Heart, Judy Martin Hess, Timothy Moore, Phil Keaggy, Woody Wright and Joy Gardner.
He has shared the stage with such country greats as Alison Krauss, Naomi Judd, Wynonna, Trace Adkins, Joe Diffee, Tracey Lawrence, Ricky Skaggs and many others. He can also be found on several of the top-selling Gaither "Homecoming" Series video and DVD releases.
Q: Trae, thank you so much for your time. You have a rich background in both country and Gospel music which including singing with Alison Krauss, Wynonna Judd, and also appearing in the Gaither "Homecoming" Series. Briefly tell us how did you discover the call to sing as a career?
A: My career has been filled with many job titles from producer, graphic artist, recording and editing engineer to professional photographer. Been very blessed with some God Given talent but my heart and soul will always be performing. Love seeing people moved by music and I've been doing that sense the age of 5.
Q: You have also co-produced the VOICES project which features performances by Larry Gatlin and the Gatlin Brothers, Joe Bonsall of Oak Ridge Boys, Michael English, "American Idol" winner Bo Bice, William Lee Golden of Oak Ridge Boys, Larry Stewart of Restless Heart and many others. What's the project about? And how did you get so many of country, pop, and Gospel music's best artists together?
A: That was just another big blessing that came together because of friendships and relationships built through the years. Everyone we asked loved the idea and was eager to help.
Q: Currently, you have released a new song "Love Got Us Through It." What inspired to write and record this song?
A. I was just one of 3 other writers and proof that timing is a big deal.. This song was actually started over 3 years ago. The original writers brought it to me about 2 months ago to listen to and rework some things. The evening I finished the final mix the shooting happened.. I knew then this song had purpose.
Q: How do you wish this song could bring hope to those affected by this tragedy?
A.That's exactly what I want it to produce. Hope sometimes is all we have and also many times all we need.
Q: In the midst of such a tragedy, what words of hope do you want to say to those affected by the shootings?
A. We cant control others.. But we can control how we treat others. I try to encourage everyone to do the right things so the right things happen. Pray for direction and pray to be an example to others that can bring comfort.
Q: I believe you are also working on your new album. What can fans expect from this record? When will it be released?
A. Yes, I'm working on "The Hope Project" and it will be a mix of songs that promote Hope, Family values and our way of life. Not sure of the release date yet.
Q: For our readers who would like to find out more about you and purchase your music, where can they go?
A. The new landing page is www.LoveGotUsThrough.com. They can find all the links there as well as a link to www.TraeEdwards.com. I'm also on all the social media platforms.
Thank you so much:)
