Priscilla Shirer's "Fervent" Named 2016 Christian Book of the Year
Fervent: A Woman's Battle Plan to Serious, Specific and Strategic Prayer by Priscilla Shirer has been named the 2016 Christian Book of the Year by the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association. Fervent has also surpassed 500,000 copies sold and has spent 33 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list to date.
Across the nation, women are using Fervent in powerful ways. From using the prayer cards featured in the back of the book to start their own War Rooms in their homes, to making Fervent the focus of their book clubs or Bible studies, women are embracing the need for powerful, intentional prayer.
Fervent is a hands-on, knees-down, don't-give-up action guide to practical purposeful praying. Shirer brings her role from the film into the real lives of today's women, addressing the topics that affect them the most: renewing their passion, refocusing their identity, negotiating family strife, dealing with relentless regrets, navigating impossible schedules, succeeding against temptation, weathering their worst fears, uprooting bitterness, and more.
"We are humbled by the recognition from the ECPA, as this particular award is intended to recognize content that is both of the highest caliber and deepest reach into the lives of readers," said Jennifer Lyell, trade book publisher for B&H. "Neither of these markers would be possible without God's goodness and provision or Priscilla Shirer's faithfulness, all of which leaves us humbled and grateful. It is our prayer that the Lord will continue to work through Fervent to call us all to serious, specific, and strategic prayer."
Earlier this year, Fervent was named 2016 Book of the Year at Family Christian Stores and will continue to be promoted during the year in bookstores. In addition to the impact of Fervent, Shirer has ventured into writing a new adventure series for middle readers,The Prince Warriors, which launched in April. The book has already made an extensive impact as the top new juvenile book in the May ECPA bestsellers list. The Prince Warriors will be a three book series with book two releasing later in 2016.
