Matt Maher is Blessed with a New Baby
Singer, worship leader and songwriter Matt Maher and his wife welcomed their third child Callum Maher into the world on February 15. This GRAMMY baby was born at 8lbs, 7oz and both mother and Callum are doing great!
This year, Matt Maher received three GRAMMY® nominations. Maher was nominated twice in the "Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song" category for his No. 1 single "Because He Lives (Amen)" - as the performer and co-writer - and as a co-writer for Third Day's "Soul On Fire." Maher's album Saints And Sinners was also nominated for "Best Contemporary Christian Music Album." He has received eight GRAMMY nominations in his career with today's announcement.
Saints And Sinners released in March and has since received much critical acclaim and continued praise. Inspired by leaders of faith who left profound marks on Christianity, the album highlights songs influenced by historical greats such as Martin Luther King Jr. and Mother Teresa. The album also produced Maher's first No. 1 radio single as an artist (as he has received six No. 1 singles as a songwriter), the GRAMMY-nominated and Dove Award winning "Because He Lives (Amen)." The nominated album was co-produced by Maher and longtime friend and collaborator Paul Moak (Third Day, Mat Kearney). Maher brought together a host of talented songwriters among who were Thad Cockrell (Leagues), Jon Foreman (Switchfoot), Bo and Bear Rinehart (NEEDTOBREATHE), Jason Ingram and several others.
In addition to the three nominations, Maher was recently awarded his first RIAA Gold certification for his popular single "Lord, I Need You." This BMI Award winning song has been heard around the world including two events with Pope Francis - in front of three million people on stage with the Holy Father at the 2013 World Youth Day in Rio de Janeiro and most recently at this year's the Festival of Families, The World Meeting of Families - Philadelphia 2015.Maher is completing his fall run of his headline "Saints And Sinners" tour, which has had numerous sold-out dates along with special guests I Am They, Jon Guerra and newcomer Hannah Kerr this weekend.
