Amy Grant is the Guest Speaker at the Historic 35th Rochester Area Prayer Breakfast
Contemporary Christian music artist Amy Grant will be the guest speaker at the historic 35th annual event of the Rochester Area Prayer Breakfast. The Rochester Area Prayer Breakfast is an annual, non-denominational event held in recognition of the National Day of Prayer, instituted in 1952 by a joint resolution of Congress and then-President Harry S. Truman.
"We are very excited that Amy Grant will inspire us with her faith journey through song and story at next year's Prayer Breakfast", said Michael Bylen, 2016 Prayer Breakfast chairperson. Bylen expects the Prayer Breakfast will sell out the new location, Oakland University Athletics Center O'Rena in Rochester.
With six Grammys, numerous Dove Awards, a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and numerous other accolades to her credit, Amy Grant is an American music icon who has erased lines between genres and earned the respect of fans and peers with her honesty, vulnerability and ceaseless creativity. hether laying her soul bare in her 2008 Book "Mosaic: Pieces of My Life So Far" or exploring faith and family in a diverse catalog of hits from "El Shaddai" to "Baby Baby," Grant's artistry has continually resonated with audiences since she first hit the national spotlight as a fresh-faced teen with a guitar three decades ago.
This year's breakfast is scheduled on Thursday, May 5th at 7:00 AM - 9:00 AM at the Athletics Center O'Rena, Oakland University. The cost is $25 per person. For more information please contact the Rochester Regional Chamber of Commerce at 248.651.6700 or email info@rrc-mi.com.
The National Day of Prayer is an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May, inviting people of all faiths to pray for the nation. It was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of the United States Congress, and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman. Our Task Force is a privately funded organization whose purpose is to encourage participation on the National Day of Prayer. It exists to communicate with every individual the need for personal repentance and prayer, to create appropriate materials, and to mobilize the Christian community to intercede for America's leaders and its families. The Task Force represents a Judeo Christian expression of the national observance, based on our understanding that this country was birthed in prayer and in reverence for the God of the Bible.
The National Day of Prayer has great significance for us as a nation as it enables us to recall and to teach the way in which our founding fathers sought the wisdom of God when faced with critical decisions. It stands as a call for us to humbly come before God, seeking His guidance for our leaders and His grace upon us as a people. The unanimous passage of the bill establishing the National Day of Prayer as an annual event, signifies that prayer is as important to our nation today as it was in the beginning. learn about sponsorship opportunities or to make a reservation for the event, please visit the Prayer Breakfast website - www.rochesterareaprayerbreakfast.com or contact the Rochester Regional Chamber of Commerce at (248) 651-6700.
