Hillsong UNITED Named Billboard Christian Artist of 2015
Hillsong United is named Billboard's Christian Artist of 2015. The Australian megachurch worship team was also Billboard's top Christian artis last year in 2014. The ensemble also scores the year's Nos. 2 and 6 titles on the Hot Christian Songs tally, with "Oceans (Where Feet May Fail)" and "Touch the Sky," respectively.
"Oceans" is arguably the most succesful single in Billboard's Christian songs history. The worship ballad has been on the weekly Hot Christian Songs chart since 2013 -- tallied a record 58 weeks at No. 1 (so far). "Oceans" first landed at No. 1 on Dec. 7, 2013 and reigned for 45 straight weeks (through Oct. 11, 2014). It returned to No. 1 for five more weeks (April 18-May 16), and then another eight frames at the summit (Oct. 10-Nov. 28).
Meanwhile, Hillsong UNITED has just released their new single "Even When It Hurts." The prcoceeds of the single is being given away with a donation to the international work of World Vision as it aims to provide Syrian refugee families with urgent care and a better future.
"We are making the download available on our website - but humbly ask that you would consider donating an amount to the World Vision Syrian refugee fund," Joel Houston said. "Together, we are believing that our generosity will ring even louder than our song, and will tangibly become the miracle to the desperate plight and prayers and of so many who have lost everything. It's impossible to fathom the enormity of the crisis, and the turmoil people have been through, and are going through - forced to flee the oppression and war-ravaged-hell-on-earth they once called home, and the daunting uncertainty of all that is before them."
World Vision's assistance in the global displacement of refugees includes providing essentials such as food; safe, clean water; critical emergency supplies; access to basic health care and education; and "Child Friendly Spaces."
