Hillsong United WHITE ALBUM [REMIX PROJECT] Debuts At No. 1 On Billboard's Dance/Electronic Album Chart Making History In the Process
Hillsong UNITED have always been groundbreakers and now with their latest release, the White Album [Remix Project], they have made history. The album, released March 3, is the first Christian-based album ever to hit No. 1 on Billboard's Dance/Electronic Albums chart.
The White Album [Remix Project] also debuted at No.4 on Billboard's Christian Albums chart its first week of charting. The project features a collection of 14 of their most popular songs from previously released UNITED projects, including fan-favorites "Oceans (Where Feet May Fail)," "With Everything," "From The Inside Out," "Like An Avalanche" and ten more tracks remixed by various mix engineers and musicians.
In celebration of Record Store Day (April 19), the album will also be released on vinyl. To find participating retailers, visit www.recordstoreday.com.
"As a label, we are constantly inspired and energized by the creativity of Hillsong UNITED," shares Chris York, Director, A&R Capitol Christian Music Group. "Each remixer on the project brought their unique take and transformed every song into something new, but it's the power of these special songs that continues to connect with listeners. This project hitting the top of the Dance/Electronic chart just shows how far the band's music can reach and proves that their artistry can't be bound by genre."
UNITED's Joel Houston shares about the project saying, "I think few things are more inspiring and challenging as the alluring white of an empty canvas. We collaborated with friends and artists who brought their unique creative gift to the table and were able to shine a different light on things. The result is The White Album - stealing its title as a respectful ode to arguably one of the greatest albums by perhaps the greatest band of all time (and no, we certainly aren't comparing our little remix project to The Beatles), but we are however inspired by the way they, like many others artists over the years have pioneered the sound of music for generations, defining culture along the way. This is the power of music; it's ability to change the atmosphere, break down walls, and define culture. As worshippers, this is what's its all about - seeing our present culture enfolded into the eternal culture of God's kingdom! He is after all, making all things NEW!"
The White Album [Remix Project] follows UNITED's most successful and fastest selling album to date, ZION, which released February 2013 and topped iTunes Overall Chart and debuted at No. 5 on Billboard's Top 200. ZION also spawned the band's biggest hit with the single "Oceans (Where Feet May Fail)," which has been on Billboard's Hot 100 Singles for eight weeks, peaking at No. 83 and is currently at No. 87. Recently featured in Billboard based on the unprecedented success, "Oceans" has been the No. 1 Hot Christian Song for 13 straight weeks and the No. 1 Christian Digital Song for 16 weeks going back to November 2, 2013. It is currently at No. 2 on the National Christian Audience Chart and No. 6 at AC Monitored.
