'The Voice' NBC Season 6 Coldplay's Chris Martin Mentors 'Knockout Round' Contestants, Watch Teaser Here (VIDEO)
"The Voice" NBC Season 6 wrapped up the 'battle rounds' last night, which included a wide array of special guest mentors including Miranda Lambert (Team Shakira), The Band Perry (Team Blake), Jill Scott (Team Usher) and Aloe Blacc (Team Adam).
Starting up next week will be the next round which is typically called the 'knock-out rounds', but they teased some new changes for this season, so we will have to see exactly how they differ from previous seasons. What we did learn though, is that Chris Martin, lead singer of the world-famous rock band, Coldplay, will be around as the guest mentor for this next round. They teased it last night and you can watch above to see a little of Martin in action as he prepares Audra McLaughlin and Megan Ruger for the second round of battles.
Coldplay formed in 1996 in London and released their debut album Parachutes from Parlophone Records. The debut album included the song "Yellow" which gave the brit-rock band their first Top 10 single and shot them into the national spotlight. Since then, Coldplay has become one of the biggest bands in the world over the last 10 years and have racked up several awards including seven Grammy Awards, four Billboard Music Awards and five MTV Video Music Awards.
"The Voice" is again setting itself apart this season with the best talent of all of the singing competitions on TV. The 'battle rounds' are some of the best episodes of the season as the contestants fight for their (competition) lives against one another and feed off of the energy of their counterpart and the live crowd. It is always interesting to see which of our favorite singers step up to the plate and who lets the platform overwhelm them enough to let it hinder their performance.
Adam Levine (Team Adam) is coming off of winning last season (Season 5) and has a very strong team this year so far. Blake Shelton (Team Blake) won three seasons in a row (Seasons 2-4) and is looking to win back the crown. Newcomers Usher (Team Usher) and Shakira (Team Shakira) are on their second season of the show after both being on Season 4. They are both looking for their first win as a part of the hit singing competition.
Tune in to NBC to see Chris Martin on "The Voice" next week on Monday/Tuesday night at 8/7 Cst.
