August Burns Red Scores Their Billboard #1 Album
Pennsylvania metalcore quintet August Burns Red are back with their sixth studio album, "Found In Far Away Places." The band scores its first No. 1 on Billboard's Top Rock Albums chart (dated July 18), as Found in Far Away Places starts with 29,000 sold, according to Nielsen Music. The metal band's sixth studio set also starts at No. 1 on Independent Albums and Hard Rock Albums.
The group also matches its highest peak on the Billboard 200 (No. 9), where its previous release, Rescue & Restore, likewise debuted (with 27,000 sold) in 2013.
Formed in 2003, the group began their first performances while a majority of the members were attending their senior year of high school, and soon began playing shows around Lancaster, before being signed to CI Records. Afterwards, they were signed to Solid State Records, and most recently to Fearless Records. The first single off the album is "The Wake."
"We wanted to start the record with a bang and this song is a real kick in the mouth," guitarist JB Brubaker tells Billboard. "It's fast and heavy while discussing how our planet is being destroyed by the gross misuse of our resources, and the general apathy of the human race when it comes to caring for the Earth."
The band, which will be be supporting the release of their album with a main stage slot on this summer's Warped tour, is looking to follow up the success of 2013's Rescue & Restore, which debuted at No. 9 on the Billboard 200.
"Found In Far Away Places," the group's first release on Fearless Records, and it features a guest vocal spot from Jeremy McKinnon of A Day To Remember.
