Jerrel Owens, Father Of Shaye Smith of the Chuck Wagon Gang, Passes Away

Jerrel Owens, father of Shaye Smith of the Chuck Wagon Gang, passed away of liver failure on Tuesday morning, April 28, 2015, at 8:45 Eastern Time, at Albemarle Hospital In Elizabeth City, NC. He was 68.
Several years ago, Chuck Wagon Gang member Shaye Smith's father, Jerrel Owens was on the verge of needing a liver transplant. Medication and therapy alleviated that problem and he was stabilized. Jerrel was taken to the emergency room at a NC hospital on Tuesday, April 14th. His liver function has dropped to 20-30% and doctors have stated that he must have a transplant as soon as possible. Currently, there is a 1-2 year 1-2 year wait on a liver to become available. He was admitted to the hospital, and remained there until his passing.
This is what the Chuck Wagon Gang writes: "A few weeks ago, Jerrel was hospitalized with liver issues, and later went home following some treatment. Jerrel was rushed to the emergency room late last week, appearing weak and in pain while the Chuck Wagon Gang was away in Alaska.. He later became non--responsive, and was placed in ICU on life support. Jerrel's wife and their four children were at Jerrel's beside.
There will be a memorial service sometime during the month of May in Ft. Worth. This is an open invitation for anyone who wishes to attend. More information will be available on the date and exact location in the near future.
Please keep the family in your prayers.
