Victoria Osteen Featured on Upcoming 'Women of the Bible' Project from Mark Burnett & Roma Downey
Mark Burnett and wife Roma Downey have a new project in the works called Women of the Bible. It will bring together several of today's top female faith leaders to help tell the stories of many key women in the Bible.
Women of the Bible will focus on such bible stories such as Eve, Sarah, Rahab, Mary Magdalene and Mother Mary. The project will include interviews with Christine Caine and Priscilla Shirer, co-founders of Going Beyond Ministries; Victoria Osteen, co-pastor of Lakewood Church; Eva Rodriguez of the Latino Evangelical Women's Association; Kay Warren, co-founder of Saddleback Church; and Bible teacher/best-selling author Joyce Meyer.
Along with Victoria Osteen co-pastoring Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas with husband, Joel Osteen, she is an established author. Osteen's first book, entitled Love Your Life: Living Happy, Healthy, and Whole was published by Simon & Schuster and released for sale on October 14, 2008. It debuted at number 2 on the New York Times Bestsellers list. At 750,000 copies, the initial first printing of Love Your Life was one of the largest by any publisher in 2008. In January 2009, Osteen released children's books published by Simon & Schuster's Little Simon imprint. Her five-year agreement with Simon & Schuster allows her to publish 13 children's works in all, including a Bible for children.
The Women of the Bible will be produced by Burnett and Downey's Lightworkers Media, the faith and family division of United Artists Media Group (UAMG).
In the wake of the massively successful The Bible miniseries from the History Channel, Burnett and Downey are now working with NBC for a new 12-hour miniseries titled A.D. The project will be produced by LightWorkers Media with Burnett, Downey and Richard Bedser serving as executive producers with a premiere set for spring 2015.
Lifetime also announced a two-night, four-hour mini-series, The Red Tent, which tells the story of Dinah the daughter of Leah and Jacob, who is only briefly referenced in the Old Testament. This will be based on the film adaptation of the best-selling novel by Anita Diamant published in 1997 stars Rebecca Ferguson, Minnie Driver (About A Boy) and Homeland alumna Morena Baccarin. "There's no one better than Mark Burnett and Roma Downey to create this special, which is the perfect complement to Lifetime's miniseries event, The Red Tent," said Rob Sharenow, executive vice president and general manager of Lifetime.
Burnett and Downey are signed on with United Artists Media Group partnership with MGM and Hearst Corp and have many new projects in the works. Downey will also host a series for TLC next year focusing on stories from people who believe they witnessed real-life miracles. TLC says the six-part series explores "the stories of people who claim that they've experienced modern-day miracles, incredible twists of fate, and phenomena that logic and science cannot explain." The network believes the series "will leave even the most skeptical viewers considering if a divine force was at work."
