American sci-fi film "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" was released in theaters and cinemas last July 17. As of Oct. 26, the movie grossed an estimated total of $707 million worldwide, which combines the estimated domestic gross of $208 million and estimated gross of $498 million in other countries.
"Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" is an American science fiction film, which serves as the sequel and second installment to the 2011 film Rise of the Planet of the Apes. The first installment unlocked the original Planet of the Apes series.
The films characters featured both humans and apes.
Human characters starred Jason Clarke as Malcolm, Gary Oldman as Dreyfus, Keri Russell as Ellie, Kodi Smit-McPhee as Alexander, Kirk Acevedo as Carver, Jon Eyez as Foster, Enrique Murciano as Kemp, Jocko Sims as Werner, Keir O'Donnell as Finney, Kevin Rankin as McVeigh, and Lombardo Boyar as Terry.
On the other hand, ape characters include Andy Serkis as Caesar, Toby Kebbel as Koba, Nick Thurston as Blue Eyes, Karin Knoval as Maurice, Terry Notary as Rocket, Doc Shaw as Ash, Judy Greer as Cornelia, and Lee Ross as Grey.
The film is directed by Matt Reeves and produced by Peter Chernin, Dylan Clark, Rick Jaffa, and Amanda Silver. The story is written by Mark Bomback, Rick Jaffa, and Amanda Silver, with music of Michael Giacchino and Michael Seresin in cinematography.
Last mid-October, the Apes movie grossed a total of $700.4 million and stood at number 7 in the 2014 worldwide grosses, as per IGN. "Transformers: Age of Extinction" was the first place with $1.0908 billion, followed by "Maleficent" with $757.2 million. Coming at number three was "X-Men: days of Future Past" with $746 million. "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" stood at number 4 with $714.1 million. "The Amazing Spiderman 2" sticked at number 5 with $709 million. "Guardians of the Galaxy" conquered the universe at $705.1 million. The animated film "How to Train Your Dragon 2" was at rank 8 with $614.7 million. "Godzilla" made $525 million, placing the giant lizard at number 9. The animated film "Rio 2" claimed the top tenth spot at $496.7 million.
Meanwhile, Den of Geek reveals that Apes fans can explore the lengthy history of the Planet of the Apes franchise in detail in the book entitled "Planet Of The Apes: The Evolution Of The Legend", authored by Joe Fordham and Jeff Bond. The book has more than 250 pages and features the Planet of the Apes' movie as it enters the big screen. Every page contains concept art illustrations, including behind the scenes photos as well as production stills. It also includes some interviews with a number of crew members, such as production designer, Willam Creber, who was in charge for most of the movie's notable events.
The Apes series is rumored to have its third film installment in 2016, as per What Culture.
