'True Detective' Season 2 HBO Release Date 2015, Taylor Kitsch Confirms Cast Role
"True Detective" Season 2 cast member Taylor Kitsch has confirmed his role in the upcoming episodes.
The 33-year-old actor shared in Adweek's latest issue about joining the "True Detective" cast, "Yeah, I'm really excited. I've just been prepping. It's been almost a full year since I've been on camera, so I'm itching, man. I'm overdue. You've just got to grind it out. ..."
The HBO series has become one of television's best series and in an unusual twist, the series will have a new lead character going into Season 2 replacing Matthew McConaughey. There were several names that were rumored to be potential casting moves, but in the end they chose Colin Farrell for the role. According to Variety, Farrell will play Ray Velcoro, "a compromised detective whose allegiances are torn between his masters in a corrupt police department and the mobster who owns him."
The 38-year-old actor shared with The Sunday World, "I'm doing the second series. I'm so excited. I know it will be eight episodes and take around four or five moths to shoot. I know very little about it, but we're shooting in the environs of Los Angeles which is great. It means I get to stay at home and see the kids."
The next male lead announced is Vince Vaughn. He will portray Frank Semyon, "a man in danger of losing his criminal empire when his move into legitimate enterprise is upended by the murder of a business partner."
The Hollywood Reporter did a video interview with show creator Nic Pizzolatto as he shared about his experience with the hit show.
"My job is to tell the best story I can with the most compelling characters," says the creator and showrunner. "I just don't know any other way to create other than the personal and people respond to the stuff that you know I had to bleed for."
"True Detective" Season 1 ran from January through March of 2014. The show had huge ratings from the start and Nic Pizzolatto signed a two-year deal with HBO.
Pizzolatto will again write every episode; unlike the first season, each episode will be directed by a different director. "True Detective" Season 2 is expected to release in Summer 2015.
