'Lego Movie Sequel' Goes to the Big Screen in 2017
After the success of the film "The Lego Movie", Phil Lord and Chris Miller have agreed with Warner Bros to write the sequel of the said film, as per Deadline.
"The Lego Movie" grossed an estimate of $257 million in the United States and an estimate of $210 in other countries, for an estimated total of $468 million worldwide. This has turned the animated film the third highest grossing film of the year so far.
The film will be executive produced by Jill Wifert, Matt Ashton, Chris McKay, and Kara Lord Piersimoni, with Dan Lin and Roy Lee as producers. Greg Silverman, Courtenay Valenti, and Chris Defaria from Warner Bros will supervise the film.
The two directors also piloted the sequel 22 Jump Street, which made more than $319 million internationally and this has positioned Lord and Miller the only directors and writers with two films among the top ten highest grossing features of the year. Aside from "The Lego Movie", Lord and Miller are also affiliated with 20th Century Fox Television. They also executive produce the comedy series "Last Man on Earth," which will also debut on Fox. They are also directing a remake of the 1981 science fiction dramedy Greatest American Hero at Fox as well as an untitled comedy with screenwriter Dan Sterling on CBS.
Meanwhile, Lego Batman fans will be excited for the good news as the Lego incarnation of Batman became so popular in the hit "The Lego Movie" that he going to have his own movie, according to The Verge. "The Lego Movie" voice cast includes Will Arnett as the Caped Crusader. With his voice, Arnett unleashes Batman's character as egotistical, obscure, sarcastic, and cool. The film is written by the author-screenwriter Seth Grahame-Smith, along with Roy Lee, Dan Lin, Phil Lord, and Christopher Miller, as producers.
After "Lego Batman", the next Lego movie schedule to hit the big screen is "Ninjago", which is plotted to debut in theaters and cinemas on September 23, 2016. After which, a sequel to its spinoff will be on 2018, according to Screenrant.
The second installment of the film is set to debut in theaters and cinemas on May 26, 2017.
