"How to Train Your Dragon 2" is 2014's Highest Grossing Animated Film
Following the success of its first movie "How to Train Your Dragon", DreamWorks and Fox decided to follow it with a second installment which was released last June 13, 2014. The franchise, "How to Train Your Dragon", is based on the English book series by Cressida Cowell. It chronicles the adventures of a young Viking named Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III. He is the son of Stoick the leader of the Viking island of Berk.
As of October 26, 2014, "How to Train Your Dragon 2" has grossed an estimate of $179 million in North America plus $438 million in other countries, for an estimated total of $614 million worldwide. It has surpassed its co-animation films "Rio 2" and "The Lego Movie". The crowning triumph made the animated movie the highest grossing animated film of the year.
The sequel "How to Train Your Dragon 2" focused on Vikings' triumph over Drago. Hiccup finally rejoined with his mother, who was separated from him several years ago. In the movie, Hiccup's father Stoick died in an attempt to protect him from the Toothless, which was controlled by the villain's alpha dragon. The film ends as Hiccup became the leader of their place and a statue of his father was built as an honor.
Now, fans of the animated film are excited since DreamWorks had announced that the adventures of Hiccup and his dragon Toothless will continue in its third installment.
Meanwhile, a never before seen footage was released in Kdramastars. It features a sketch of Hiccup and Eret.
The film's voice cast includes Jay Baruchel as Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III, son of the Viking chief, Stoick; America Ferrera as Astrid Hofferson, Hiccup's girlfriend; and Cate Blanchett as Valka, Stoick's wife and Hiccup's long lost mother.
The animated film's third installment is set to be directed by director-writer Dean DeBlois, with Bonnie Arnold as the producer. The forthcoming fantasy film will be under just like its predecessors, the same creative team is tasked to work on "How to Train Your Dragon 3", as per Variety,
According to in Flickeringmyth, the animated movie was initially plotted to debut in theaters on June 17, 2016. Indiewire revealed that a possible reason for the delay of schedule is to give the red carpet to Pixar's "Finding Dory". DreamWorks has not said anything about the delay. At present, the highly-anticipated forthcoming film set to be released in theaters and cinemas on June 9, 2017.
