'Samsung Galaxy S6' Release Date: Features and Specifications, Phone Rumored to Debut in 2015
Since its recent launch, Samsung Galaxy S5 has been on sale as of now. At the moment, there are rumors circulating in the internet on the features and specifications of Samsung Galaxy S6.
In terms of design, it is conceivable that the Galaxy S6 will feature a SuperAMOLED screen just like the Galaxy S5, as per PC Advisor. Recently, it has also become a fashion for new smartphone models to have bigger displays, like the Samsung S5 with 5.1 inches as well as other phones such as Apple iPhone 6 Plus with 5.5 inches, Sony Xperia Z3 with 5.2 inches, Motorola Nexus 6 with 5.96 inches, and LG G3 with 5.5 inches. The Galaxy S6 could share its display size with its predecessor.
Two screen resolutions are possible for the Samsung Galaxy S6 - the Quad HD (1440 x 2560 pixels) and 4K (2160 x 3840). The Quad HD is more likely since some of Samsung's recent line have it just like the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge. Rumors also say that the Korean tech giant could use graphene as a material, but it can also keep with its metal design, just like the Galaxy Alpha, the metal version of the Galaxy S5.
The upcoming Galaxy S6 may also be powered by Qualcomm's 64-bit processors, while running the new Android 5.0 Lollipop as the new OS supports 64-bit. It also has the option to utilize the Snapdragon 808, which supports up to 1600 x 2560 displays or the Snapdragon 810, which supports the 4K.
As for the camera, PC Advisor revealed that there is no noted information yet. However, it is expected to keep the 16-megapixel resolution just like its predecessor, or boost it to 20MP, which is a little closer to Sony Xperia's Z2 and Z3 series.
Tech Radar revealed some expectations with regard to the features of the upcoming phones. Some notable expectations are the flexible design and the bigger battery. The "curved and bendy screens" will provide higher flexibility and durability to the phone. An upgrade to the 2,800 mAh battery will be a big improvement so as to deliver highly efficient power consumption and fast charging.
It was also rumored that the Korean company will feature to the Galaxy S6 an advanced 60 GHz technology, which is said to be able to send data about five times faster than other existing devices. Through this technology, Galaxy S6 will enable transmit data to other devices in a speed of 575 megabytes (MB) per second. This is equivalent to sending a 1GB movie within 3 seconds, as per Daily Mail.
