HTC One M9 vs Samsung Galaxy 6: Comparison of the Upcoming Smartphone Showdown on 2015
Apple had their greatest time after they unveiled the iPhone 6 series last month but next year, tech-giants are set to have their own wow moment. Mobile World Congress is the common event where giant smartphone and phablet companies announce their new flagship devices.
Next year the event is scheduled from March 2 to 5, so as early as now, mark your calendars because new top caliber handsets will surely be unveiled. Among the anticipated smartphones are HTC One M9 and Samsung Galaxy S6.
Christian Today reported that M9 is tipped to be launched in the said congress as its predecessor, HTC One M8, was released last March. The Taiwan-based company has a trademark of unveiling their new flagship phone during the annual mobile event, so next year, HTC One M9 is expected to appear.
Galaxy S6, on the other hand, is also rumored to be unveiled on the same event, Ordoh reported. The upcoming smartphone's predecessor, Galaxy S5 was launched last Mobile World Congress and rumors said after the release of Note 4 and Note Edge, Samsung has its S6 underway.
Before the anticipated face-off happen, here is a brief comparison of the present rumors about the two upcoming smartphones.
Both smartphones are tipped to have more than 5-inch display. HTC One M9 is said to have the same screen size as M8's 5.2-inch display. The only difference will be the upgrade from 1080 resolution to 1440 pixel and the possible boost to QHD screen, Air Herald reported. Galaxy, on the other hand, is rumored to have Super AMOLED 5.2-inch screen with the same 1440 resolution. It can be recalled that S4 has 5-inch display while S5 has 5.1 inch screen, thus if the Korean company continue its trend, S6 will be more likely to have a 0.1 inch boost.
In terms of processor, both HTC One M9 and Samsung Galaxy S6 are rumored to have either the hexa-core Snapdragon 805 or the latest 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor. The availability of the new processor allows a bigger RAM thus, the two phablets are expected to have more than 3GB RAM.
Android Lollipop 5.0 is the rumored operating system that will be inside the two upcoming smartphones. So in terms of performance, HTC and Samsung might have the same quality. On the other hand, Galaxy S6 may be better in terms of camera. It is rumored to have a 20MP snapper with Optical Image Stabilization while One M9 is set for a 13MP rear camera.
If you are already planning to buy either of the two high quality smartphones, Samsung Galaxy S6 is said to cost more than $900 while HTC One M9 might be at the same range as M8 that is already set at $820.
