Xbox Two and PS 5 Release Date: Coming Sooner Than Expected
Xbox Two and PS 5 Release Date: Coming Sooner Than Expected
To be clear, an Xbox Two from Microsoft and a PS 5 from Sony will probably appear in the near future, Techradar reports.
However, an Xbox Two and PS 5 release date will likely take several more years because the Xbox One and PS4 are still recent releases. Both Microsoft and Sony have promised that their next generation gaming platforms will last a long time. Microsoft even estimates that the Xbox One will have a life span of ten years before they are going to launch a successor, according to another report of Techradar. The head of Sony Computer Entertainment in UK Fergal Gara, does not think that the PS 4 will last that long. In a Tech Radar interview he said, "I think there's reasons to believe that the next cycle might be shorter in markets such as the UK."
If Sony will release a PS5 in the near future, we can expect that Microsoft will launch an Xbox Two just to compete.
Davinder Kumar, AMD's Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer agrees with Gara's assessment. He said in an interview that their customers namely, Sony and Microsoft are already planning about their next products. AMD is the supplier of the Jaguar CPU that is being used in the Xbox One and PS4.
The Xbox 360 and PS3 lasted for eight years before the next generation Xbox One and PS4 were launched and even now, the current generation gaming platforms are still being played and games are still being release for them.
For now, it is still too soon to speculate on an Xbox One and PS5 release date. Gara however, said that times are changing and gamers are now willing to adopt to new technologies a lot faster than before. Gara would not tell what kind of new features a PS5 will have that is different from the PS4. The Play Station maker believes that the PS4 will have a very long gaming life but it must also take into account its competitors in the game console market. Aside from Xbox One, Valve is currently developing a gaming console of its own.
