Florida Georgia Line's 'Anything Goes': Today's Best Country Music
Florida Georgia Line, the duo composed of the Florida native Brian Kelley and Georgia-born Tyler Hubbard, is now back with their second album "Anything Goes" and once again, they have proven that there is more to country music than what people are used to. And to mark their success, Billboard has reported that the country duo has finally nabbed their first number one album on Billboard 200 chart. "Anything Goes" has been released on Republic Nashville, selling 197,000 copies in a week that ended on the Oct. 19.
The second full-length studio effort of the pair has been released following the smashing success of their first album back in 2012, "Here's To the Good Times," that ranked number four on Billboard 200. This has already sold 2.1 million copies to date and is still part of the chart, rising to 48 from 56 on its ninety eight week.
On an interview in the DailyHerald, Tyler said that they do not mind their critics because anyone who has made a mark in history, whether in business or music, has always been criticized for it. He also said that they are hoping to be criticized as this will mean that what they are doing is something big, that they are making some big moves, and more importantly, making history.
Noted by Billboard to be more consistent compared to its predecessor, "Anything Goes" is the third consecutive album of country genre that topped Billboard to 200, basically following the one-week spot rules of "Bringing Back the Sunshine" from Blake Shelton and "Old Boots, New Dirt" of Jason Aldean. This is also the very first time that the top slot of the chart has gone back-to-back-to-back with three country leaders in more than four years, with such a momentous event having taken place back in 2010, from October 9 to 23, when "You Get What You Give" by Zac Brown Band, "Hemingway's Whiskey" by Kenney Chesney and "Bullets In the Gun" by Toby Keith led the list.
Last week's number one spot owner, "Old Boots, New Dirt" by Aldean slips to the second place, with 91,000, noting a down of 67 percent.
