Lena Dunham and Melissa McCarthy: Potential Stars of ‘Ghosbusters’ Reboot
Rumors about the casting of “Ghostbusters” were already twirling. Lena Dunham and Melissa Mc Carthy were two of the potential list of stars. These two female actress were the latest to express the female-driven reboot.
Dunham and Mc Carthy had discussed the reboot in an interview with Ellen DeGeneres, Ellen TV reported.
DeGeneres joked that three of them should take the “Ghostbusters” together while Mc Carthy nodded her head saying “it seems right.”
Ellen tackled out McCarthy about the swirling rumors that she had been involved in the said project. However, McCarthy denied the conversation. It it was true, McCarthy would not be the first Heat alum to mixed up with the reboot. Kate Dippold, the Heat writer had signed on to in co-writing the script.
Dunham mentioned that she as well as most of the actresses were interested in the saidreboot. According to IGN, since Dunham have heard about the rumors, she thought that every lady wanted to be in the reboot. Recently, Gillian Anderson also wanted to be included in it.
On the other hand, McCarthy appeared in the original Ghostbuster, Bill Murray and he gave her the seal of approval to be included in the franchise. He also suggested the names of Emma Stone, Kristen Wiig, and Linda Cardellini. Wiig and Stone had their names thrown for some time.
Nonetheless, Mccarthy was the favourite among all. Mostly because of her appearance in the last two films of Paul Feig, “The Heat” and “Bridesmaid”. She will also be on the next film of Feig, “Spy”. There is a great possibility of McCarthy to be in the reboot, but she was still not yet in the casting.
As of now, there is no official actress that has been confirmed. However, it seemed that Paul Feig might have his choice of witty women to be the star of the new “Ghosbusters”.
