Bryan Cranston Responds to Florida Mom’s Petition Against Breaking Bad Toys
Bryan Cranston, the multiple Emmy-award winning actor from AMC hit TV series, Breaking Bad has finally broken his silence and responded to a Florida mom, who is demanding Toys “R” Us to stop stocking Breaking Bad dolls.
According to US Weekly, Cranston jokingly tweeted: 'Florida mom petitions against Toys 'R Us over Breaking Bad action figures.' I'm so mad, I'm burning my Florida Mom action figure in protest,"
The toys causing the fuss are of the critically praised show’s main characters Walter White (Bryan Cranston), a cancer-stricken chemistry teacher-turned-meth manufacturer, and Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul), his former student turned to be his lab partner.
Toys R Us is a popular American store that provides an array of toys for children of all ages. In the mom’s petition, which was released earlier this month, she stated that selling Breaking Bad action figures with a detachable sack of cash and a bag of meth is totally and dangerous deviation from their family friendly values.
The mom, named Susan Schrivjer of Fort Myers admitted that she’s a fan of the show despite her opposing opinion on the toys’ suitability for kids. "I thought the show was great,". "It was riveting”, she said in a local TV interview. "While the show may be compelling viewing for adults, its violent content and celebration of the drug trade make this collection unsuitable to be sold alongside Barbie dolls and Disney characters.", Schrivjer added.
"The products you reference are carried in very limited quantities and the product packaging clearly notes that the items are intended for ages 15 and up. Items from this TV series are located in the adult action figure area of our stores”, said Toys R Us on WFTX.
The petition posted by Susan on Change Org calls for Toys “R” Us to remove the aforementioned toys from shelves. Over 6000 parents have signed the petition to join and support her cause as of October 21st.
