'How I Met Your Mother' Star Neil Patrick Harris To Host 2015 Oscars, Read Statement
"How I Met Your Mother" star Neil Patrick Harris has been announced to host the 2015 Oscar Awards. The Academy Awards will take place on February 22, 2015.
"It is truly an honor and a thrill to be asked to host this year's Academy Awards. I grew up watching the Oscars and was always in such awe of some of the greats who hosted the show," Neil said in a statement. "To be asked to follow in the footsteps of Johnny Carson, Billy Crystal, Ellen DeGeneres, and everyone else who had the great fortune of hosting is a bucket list dream come true."
Harris stars alongside Ben Affleck in current hit movie Gone Girl. The David Fincher film stars Ben Affleck as Nick Dunne, who is a man accused of murdering his wife (Rosamund Pike) after she goes missing on their fifth anniversary.
The movie is the big-screen adaptation of Gillian Flynn's novel of the same name. However Flynn told her former employer, Entertainment Weekly, that she rewrote the book's controversial ending at Fincher's request for the film. Gone Girl also stars Tyler Perry, Emily Ratajkowski, Scoot McNairy, Missi Pyle and Patrick Fugit.
Gone Girl will be scored by Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor and his frequent collaborator Atticus Ross. The pair have previously scored two films for Fincher - 2010's The Social Network and 2011's The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. The movie is produced by Leslie Dixon, Bruna Papandrea, Reese Witherspoon and Cean Chaffin and was made on a $50 million budget.
Producer David Fincher is known for his work on Se7en and The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, among others.
