Christina Aguilera Set for a Comeback on 'The Voice Season 8': Replaces Gwen Stefani; Joins Adam Levine, Blake Shelton and Pharell Williams
American singer, songwriter, actress is set to return in "The Voice" stage that is originally hers. After a two-year break, Christina Aguilera will be coming back as a judge of "The Voice Season 8," Hypable reported.
The show's home network announced that the singer will replace the current judge Gwen Stefani and will join three equally talented artists Adam Levine of Maroon 5, Blake Shelton, and 'Happy' singer Pharell Williams.
NBC's executive, Paul Telegdy said in a press release that, "We are excited to welcome Christina back to her red chair and can't wait to see how she mixes things up among Adam, Blake and Pharrell, in what will be an incredibly competitive competition." He also said that "The Voice Season 8" will be 'intense' with the four talented coaches and because of higher 'stakes' for the new batch of singers.
International Business Times recalled that the "Beautiful" singer will have her second comeback on the show's 2015 edition. Aguilera left the Voice twice, her first break happened back in December 2012 and returned immediately during the show's Season 5. Shakira was her replacement for that season.
The goal to make more music and to reconnect with her fans face-to-face was her reasons for her 2012 departure. "In order to remain great coaches and to stay relevant, we have to go out and we have to still tour, see our fans one-on-one. I have to feel creatively fulfilled in order for me to then do my job as a coach and be on that show," she said.
Her second hiatus was last year, before the season 6 started. The 33-year old pop star took a break after she announced her pregnancy with her second child. Last August, she gave birth to a daughter with his fiancé Matt Rutler, named Summer Raine.
Fans of the reality singing competition are excited on the upcoming comeback of the Hollywood star. On the other hand, Time has cited that Aguilera's diva attitude does not suit in a reality show like "The Voice." "Aguilera has always been a bizarre fit for a show whose very conceit is that vocal performance is more important than image."
