'Alice in Wonderland: Through the Looking Glass': The Enchanted Adventure Continues in 2016: Cast Members Revealed
"Alice in Wonderland: Through the Looking Glass" is an upcoming American fantasy film, which is the second installment to the 2010 film Alice in Wonderland. It is based on the novel "Through the Looking Glass" written by Lewis Carroll. The cast is currently in England filming under the direction of James Bobin.
The story is set about six months later than the earlier book. Alice enters a magical world by climbing though a mirror into a world that she can see beyond it.
Slashfilm reveals that Alice second installment "revisits Lewis Carroll's beloved stories with an all-new new take that travels back to Underland - and back in time."
The upcoming film cast members star 2014 Saturn Award Nominee and 2011 EDA Special Mention Award Winner Mia Wasikowska as main protagonist Alice Kingsleigh; 2011 Golden Globe Nominee Johnny Depp as Tarrant Hightopp, the Mad Hatter; 2014 Golden Globe Nominee and 2011 Academy Awards Nominee Helena Bonham Carter as Iracebetyh of Crims, the Red Queen; 2013 Golden Globe Award Winner and 2013 Academy Awards Winner Anne Hathaway as Mirana of Marmoreal, the White Queen; Sacha Baron Cohen as Time; Rhys Ifans as Zanik Hightopp, the Mad Hatter's father,; Matt Lucas as Tweedledee and Tweedledum; and Ed Speleers as James Harcourt.
Mia Wasikowska received the AFI International Award for Best Actress last 2010 for the movie "Alice in Wonderland". Aside from the forthcoming movie, the actress will be appearing in another project "Crimson Peak", which is set to premiere in 2015. Her recent projects also include "Madame Bovary" and "Maps to the Stars".
Anne Hathaway appeared in 2014's "Don Peyote" and "Song One". She was also the voice cast for Jewel in "Rio 2". This year, she is part of the upcoming movie "Interstellar". In 2015, her other project is "The Intern". Helena Bonham Carter will appear in 2015 in the film "Suffragette" and "Cinderella", where she will play Cinderella's fairy godmother. Actor Johnny Depp will appear films "Into the Woods", "London Fields", "Mortdecai", "Black Mass", "Yoga Hosers", and "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Jokes".
The script is written by Linda Woolverton. Major production started last August 4, 2014 at Shepperton Studios. Filming also began last August and took place in Gloucester Docks in England.
The magical adventure returns to the big screen under Walt Disney Studios and Motion Pictures. The highly anticipated second installment is set to be released in theaters and cinemas on May 27, 2016.
