Prayers Requested: Dr. Christopher Yuan Paralyzed Following Sudden Accident

Dr. Christopher Yuan, a renowned Christian speaker, author, and Bible professor, has suffered a severe spinal injury resulting in paralysis from the neck down. The incident occurred on September 23, 2025, during a routine activity. He was immediately hospitalized and is currently undergoing medical treatment. His family and ministry team are requesting prayers for his recovery during this challenging time.

Dr. Yuan's journey to faith and ministry is a powerful testament to transformation and grace. Born into a Chinese immigrant family in the United States, he pursued a career in dentistry. However, his life took a dramatic turn as he struggled with issues related to his sexuality and substance abuse. At 23, after coming out as gay to his parents, he faced rejection and moved out. He began selling drugs while in dental school, which led to his arrest and imprisonment. During his time in prison, Dr. Yuan experienced a profound spiritual awakening, leading to his conversion to Christianity.

After his release, Dr. Yuan pursued theological education, earning degrees from Moody Bible Institute, including a Doctor of Ministry. He has since dedicated his life to ministry, focusing on biblical sexuality and the gospel. His speaking ministry has reached five continents, and he has co-authored the memoir Out of a Far Country with his mother, Angela Yuan. The book has sold over 130,000 copies and is now available in multiple languages. His second book, Holy Sexuality and the Gospel, was named 2020 Book of the Year for Social Issues by Outreach Magazine.

In July 2022, Dr. Yuan's father, Dr. Leon Yuan, passed away unexpectedly. Despite this loss, Dr. Yuan and his mother continue to joyfully and passionately proclaim the gospel.
