Sexiest Woman Alive Penelope Cruz Husband in 'Pirates of the Caribbean 5'; Johnny Depp's Villain to be Javier Bardem
Days after Penelope Cruz was named the Sexiest Woman Alive by Esquire magazine, her husband Javier Bardem made headlines after being rumored to be cast in the 2015 film "Pirates of the Caribbean 5."
Previously, it was rumored that "Horrible Bosses 2" actor Christoph Waltz will play the role of a villainous sea captain who will go against Jack Sparrow played by Johnny Depp in the fifth installment of the film titled "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales."
However, producer Jerry Bruckheimer is said to have personally chosen Javier Bardem, The Wrap has learned.
The villain role to be played by Bardem is a ghost captain who blames Depp's character for his brother's death and prepares for revenge by looking for a supernatural object, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Along with Stephen Graham and Ian McShane, Geoffrey Rush will reprise his role as Barbossa while Orlando Bloom and Keith Richards are said to appear with cameo roles in "Pirates of the Caribbean 5."
To be helmed by "Kon-Tiki" directors Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg, "Pirates of the Caribbean 5" will be shot in Australia starting in Feb. 2015 and is set to hit theaters in July 2017.
Bardem's wife appeared in the fourth installment of the film franchise titled "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" as Angelica, a former love interest of Depp's character.
Cuurently, Penelope Cruz is filming the 2015 comedy movie "Grisby" with Sacha Baron Cohen, "Annabelle" star Annabelle Wallis, Ian McShane, Isla Fisher, Johnny Vegas, "Precious" actress Gabourey Sidibe and.
"Grimsby" previously became controversial because much of it was filmed in Essex, so its portrayal of the town has caused outrage among a lot of Grimsby residents.
According to the complaints, filming "Grimsby" in Essex will taint the reputation of the area as it will simply exacerbate the already existing negative stereotyping, Grimsby Telegraph has learned.
Penelope Cruz inherited her title as Esquire's Sexiest Woman Alive from Scarlett Johansson, who was her co-star in the 2008 film "Vicky Cristina Barcelona," which also starred Bardem.
As this year's Sexiest Woman Alive, Penelope Cruz will be featured on the November issue of Esquire to be released on Oct. 21.
