'Scorpion' Reacts: Genius Characters Vs. Average People
"Scorpion" Reacts: Genius Characters Vs. Average People
Walter O'Brien, "Scorpion's" lead character, has shown the world that there isn't anything that he could not decipher.
On top of its fast-paced, heart-pumping scenes is an extremely likable set of characters. Walter is the fourth smartest person in the world, surrounded by other highly intelligent people: Happy Quinn (Engineering whiz), Toby Curtis (Harvard-honed behaviorist), and Sylvester Dodd (outstanding mathematician). All of these persons' IQ, when combined, can reach 700; however, establishing relationships with other people and investing emotions aren't included in their long list of skills.
Though Walter is unable to make significant and intimate relationships with people, he's probably the only jerk you can't quite afford to hate. He does not give-out snarky comments just because he thinks he'll be cool, but because he experiences frustrations with the fact that no one could seem to understand his level of intelligence.
The story would convince the audience that there is no such thing as impossible to them when Agent Cabe Gallo of Homeland Security called these geniuses for a special task. O'Brien and the other guys agreed to accept the assignment after being fed up with odd jobs that could barely support their rents. The special task was to bring back LAX communications system running efficiently once again and prevent 56 airplanes from dropping straight from the sky within two hours.
Walter, at first, was reluctant to help the agent due to trust issues. This is because as a child, Walter has already caught the attention of NASA when he searched for a space shuttle blueprint. Gallo, the agent, recruited the young Walter back then to create a monitoring system that will assist the militaries in dropping aids. What was first a noble plan became an evil transition when Walter's program was used to drop bombs and kill 2, 000 civilians in an instant.
The two other "normal" characters, namely Paige (waitress) and Gallo (Agent), also, provided the show with a unique kind of humor every time they react to the geniuses' perceptions on varied things.
Scorpion, in a lot of ways, is like CSI, The Big Bang Theory and Person of Interest combined. However, audiences aren't that surprised because both shows are designed to capture the interest of all CBS procedural-obsessed fans.
Watch out for the upcoming episodes!
