Stalker Season 1, Pilot and Show Review, New CBS Show Gets Mixed Reviews, Scary and Boring, but Beth is a Character to Watch
Stalker premiered with its first episode on Wednesday night, and it looked like the new show started off pretty well, giving viewers the taste of stalker scares.
The new show stars Maggie Q, famous for her role in NIKITA, and Dylan McDermott (as many of you are surely familiar with), and the two play the role of detectives who investigate stalker cases.
The show got mixed reviews, with some being offended and others enjoying the scare of the whole thing. Others are drawn to the character Maggie Q is playing, Beth. Beth already has a past with stalkers, and traumatized as she is, viewers can already tell how the character is coping with her stalker issue. It keeps us wondering how the character develops in the upcoming episodes. How is she going to cope and move forward for the better?
A reviewer from TV.COM wasn't quite happy with the new show.
"I think Stalker is bad. Stalker offends me in a way that very few shows ever have, which I suppose is something of an achievement. The pilot was violent for the sake of exploitative shock; it didn't offer commentary on stalking or violence in American culture, televisual or otherwise. I found it to be a vile, seemingly endless stream of trash that almost made me understand the people who like to brag that "Oh, I don't watch television.""
While the TV Fanatic gave a pretty review of the new show:
"The episode was full of scares, which Kevin Williamson is well known for... I've read some interviews that suggest this series is purely procedural so I'm guessing new cases every week will be a good refresh for the series...The acting was really good. I can't fault any of the leads or even the supporting cast. The actors all turned in strong, believable performances."
What do you think? Catch the upcoming episodes of Stalker every Wednesday at 10PM on CBS.
