Beyonce's Mother Tina: The Keynote Speaker of the International Women & Money Leadership
Beyonce's mother, Tina Knowles was recognized as the keynote speaker of the International Women & Money Leadership luncheon in Houston, Texas. This is according to a report in MadameNoire.
Knowles reveals her story of how she dealt her low self-esteem after divorcing Beyonce's father, Matthew Knowles and then later, becoming in love once more at the age of 60. As a speaker, she also explained that her marriage to Matthew Knowles had been disorderly, since Beyonce was a small girl and before she gave birth to Solange Knowles, Beyonce's sister.
Tina made a choice to deal with her waning relationship by keeping herself busy and concentrating her strength and energy on beauty school and Destiny's Child. However, the results of her work were still inadequate to ignite her marriage and keep going. But in the end, realizing that her marriage was put to an end gave her a feeling of low self-esteem.
Knowles ended her marriage at the age of 58. She told MadameNoire, "Well, it doesn't matter who you are, what you are, what you've done, what you like, or what you have. You're a person, you're a human being. And when something strikes you like that, it takes the breath out of you. But my fight came back. I let myself feel sorry for myself for a minute and then I said, you know, I'm so blessed to have all the opportunities that I have. And I don't have the right to feel sorry."
The divorce made Knowles focus on herself. "It gave me courage to take some time off. I started reading my art books. I love art but I had never had the time. I started traveling. I would travel with my daughter, but not to work! I would say, "No I'm not working." I had my girl friend who made me laugh. I would send for her and she would come and come on the road because she's as crazy as I don't know what - in a good way!" explained Knowles.
In the long run, Knowles' irrepressible attitude towards the challenges she faced led her to love again at the age of 60. Her new love is now "All my children" plus "Dynasty" actor, Richard Lawson who she have known for 33 years before their dating.
To Tina, everything is all about good timing. She said in MadameNoire, "It's been now a year and five months. I'm in a committed relationship with that handsome man! And I'm the happiest I've been in a long, long time."
