Project Ara Release Date, Google Updates, Video News, Specs And Features: Development Of Project Ara Is Right On Track With The First Fully Functional Prototype Set To be Showcased In December
We have the latest for you on the release date, Google updates, video news, specs and features of Project Ara. Though a date had not been set for the new project release from Google, project Ara that Google has been working on, release dates have been confirmed to be earlier than expected. Phoneblocks confirmed that the project will have an early 2015 release date which depict the project is on track in terms of schedule.
In a recent event, LCU14 talked about several new projects that Google ATAP team has undertaken. Paul Eremenko, Project Ara's head at Google ATAP talked about the project and confirmed that the project would be released as soon as 2015, aside from the announcement of the release date, he also added on the capabilities of project Ara and the goals it intends to achieve once it is launched.
If Project Ara release date is on track, this could be attributed to the fact that the first fully functional prototype of project Ara is set to be showcased in December at the 2nd project Ara Developer Conference where the new Project Ara MDK is set to be launched. If rumors are true then the prototype should be ready in the next 3 months and hopefully soon after we can expect to see leaks of Project Ara devices as we get closer to December.
There is a lot of suspense as to the potential the device holds as up to now we've never seen the device fully powered. The time Paul Eremenko intended to show off the prototype, it froze and never got past the boot screen. This was a major setback but it did not deter their efforts and with the second prototype on track one can only imagine what we will experience come December.
There was some information about the project that was released at the LCU14 opening keynote. When Project Ara device is released early in 2015, it will be running on a modified version of Android L that has been developed in collaboration with the non-profit Linaro. This modified version of Android L will enable Project Ara to be hot swappable. The meaning of this is that every module of the project Ara phone, aside from the CPU and Display can be switched out and changed without turning the phone off.
