Apple Hitting Bad Luck AGAIN! Apple Says Most Mac Users are Safe From the 'Bash Bug' But They Have a Fix Just in Case
Apple has assured that users of the Mac OS X are safe form the "Bash Bug." As long as the OS X is in the default setting, the bug will not infect the system. The "Bash Bug" is wrecking havoc on computers using Linux and Unix-based operating systems.
Although Apple has aired the assurance, it also admits that OS X can be infected with "Bash Bug" which also goes by the name "Shellshock." The company emphasized that OS X set at default will usually deny the bug access to the system.
"Bash Bug" is actually a command shell and language in Unix. OS X has this command shell. Hackers could use the Bash command to gain access to a victim's computer. Apple has release a public statement in iMore regarding the Mac OS X vulnerability to the bug. The statement said, "Systems are safe by default and not exposed to remote exploits of bash unless users configure advanced Unix services. We are working to quickly provide a software update for our advanced Unix users."
But what's odd is that Apple did not inform its consumers which "advanced Unix services" could leave Mac users susceptible to attack. User are also questioning if short-term bug fixes can really solve the problem with the "Bash Bug." They are hoping that a long-term and permanent solution can be available as soon as possible.
For now, users need to satisfy themselves with Apple's admission that the bug can cause severe problems and the reassurance that they've given - that the company is going to do all that they can to solve the problem.
With the rumored release of iPad Air 2 in October, it seems that Apple is hitting bad luck one after the other. First, the bendable iPhone 6 and now this, let's just hope that they can rebound from bad luck.
