The True Story Behind 'Annabelle' - The Doll Before the 'Conjuring'

Just when you thought the trailer for Annabelle is creepy and scary enough, comes the news that Annabelle is real. The doll in the movie is very different from the real one. The real Annabelle doll looks just like any Raggedy Ann Doll. It was director James Wan, who wanted an updated and more "disturbing look" for the doll.

The history of Annabelle began in 1970, when Donna got a gift from her mother, a used doll. At first, the doll is just like any other doll, but Donna and her roommate, Angie, started noticing little things like changes in position. Donna and Angie dismissed those little incidents even when they both remembered putting Annabelle on the bed and suddenly finds her on the couch when they returned. Things with Annabelle got worse, when one day, the two got home and found a red liquid or presumably blood in Annabelle's hands. The girls decided that it's time to do something about the doll. They consulted a medium and they were informed that before their apartment complex was built, the area used to be a field and a girl named Annabelle Higgins died. The girls agreed to let Annabelle lived with them, but it didn't pacify the situation. Things have gotten worse and they decided to consult Ed and Lorraine Warren. It was then, that they've found out, that the doll was being possessed by demons. The doll is being kept in a locked case built by the Warrens.

The movie Annabelle is based on this premise except for the fact that Annabelle managed to escaped the locked case. Ward Horton plays the role of John Form, he thought that Annabelle is the perfect gift for his expectant wife, but the doll, who is suppose to bring joy to the family, is the one bringing terror.
