Lindley Creek Shares Their Excitement with Hallels Over Their New Children's Album
With their distinctive rootsy sound that weaves traces of bluegrass, country, Southern Gospel, blues and jazz, Lindley Creek is one of the most exciting Christian bands out there. They are made up of the Greer Family comprising of John and Kathie Greer with their two children Jase and Katie. In May of 2014, they have just released their first Christian kids' album "He's Still Working On Me." Coming in the Fall will be their proper brand new album "There is a Plan.".
We are so honored to catch up with them for this exclusive Hallels interview.
Hallels: For some of our readers who have not heard of Lindley Creek, can you briefly tell us who you are?
We are a family band from the Ozark Mountains of Missouri near Springfield (home of Bass Pro Shop). Our family consists of Dad, John Rob Greer, Mom, Kathie Greer, Son (19) Jase Greer, and Daughter (16) Katie Greer. We travel in full-time music ministry throughout the U.S. and Canada.
Hallels: How would you describe your own sound and music?
Our music is rooted strongly in bluegrass (That's where we got our start.), but it is influenced by many other genres including country, gospel, blues, and jazz. One person said we have a distinctly "Ozark" sound.
Hallels: I believe you have a new children's album "He's Still Working on Me" coming out. Why a children's album?
Our children's CD, "He's Still Working on Me" was released in May 2014. We created this CD for children to learn about Jesus with some Sunday school type songs mixed in with a few hymns all done in the "Ozarks Style". We believe Jesus loves children and wants us to reach them for Him.
Hallels: What are some of the songs on the album you are really excited about? And why?
We are so thrilled to have recorded "The Crayon Box Song". It has been a favorite of Katie's for years. The songwriter, William Mason had this to say about our version of his well-loved song."Your version of the song is perfect. In conveys the feel and message of the song so very well. God bless you for all of your efforts for Him." We also enjoyed recording a jazzy version of "This Little Light of Mine". It was just a fun CD to record!
Hallels: Do you think adults will be able to enjoy this album too?
Many adults that have heard the CD have been excited to use it in their own Sunday school, Jr. Church and other children's programs. There are some songs that will be new to everyone, so that can add to some of the songs that are being sung (even in the car on the way to the grandparents' house)! Many grandparents are purchasing the CD for their grandkids to help insure that they know about Jesus.
Hallels: The proceeds of the album go to the Lighthouse Children's Homes. Can you tell us more about this ministry?
The Lighthouse Children's Homes are found in Costa Rica, Panama, India, & Mexico. We were able to visit the home in Cosa Rica on two occasions and sing for a pastors' and missionaries' conference. Through that, we developed a relationship with the children there and also a burden to help other abandoned and orphaned children. The profits from this CD is a way to help them financially.
Hallels: If our readers would like to purchase your new CD or find out more about you, where can they go?
You can find out more about our family and purchase "He's Still Working on Me" through this direct link, He's Still Working on Me our website www.lindleycreek.com (digital downloads are also available!) or email us at kathie@lindleycreek.com
