FX American Horror Story Freak Show Release Date, Trailer, and News: Asylum Character Pepper to Return for Freak Show
It's been confirmed by Entertainment Weekly that American Horror Story Asylum character and fan-favorite Pepper will be making her return for Freak Show.
Her return has been long rumored and speculated by fans ever since a call sheet listed Pepper back in late July, which got fans all excited. "She is in this [season]," confirms co-creator Ryan Murphy to EW.
Pepper, who will once again be played by Naomi Grossman, will be a part of the members of the Freak Show run and managed by Elsa Mars (Jessica Lange). "What Elsa has done for 20 years is she goes around to hospitals and jails and rescues these 'freak' circus performers who are going to be shipped away to asylums, and she signs the waivers and she becomes their guardians," explains Murphy. The new season of the American Horror Story takes place in Jupiter, Florida in 1952, 12 years before the events of 'Asylum.' Freak Show, according to Murphy, is sort of like what had happened to Pepper before she went to the asylum. Murphy also confessed, "We thought about it long and hard, and we decided that it was interesting to do."
This will be the first time in four seasons of American Horror Story that a character from a previous season will appear in another. This confirms that all the other seasons of American Horror Story share the same universe. It would be interesting if producers and Murphy would consider doing this again in the next season.
American Horror Story: Freak Show premieres on October 8 on FX.
