Zachary Quinto Officially Joins Cast in New NBC Miniseries Drama, The Slap
Star Trek and Heroes star Zachary Quinto is set to play a role in NBC's new miniseries drama The Slap. The Slap is based off of the 2008 novel of the same name by Australian Author Christos Tsiolkas, and it has also been adapted for an Australian family drama as well.
The show is a complex family drama when a man slaps another couple's misbehaving child. Quinto will portray the 'slapper,' Harry. The official description revealed by NBC reads: "Married, with a 15-year-old son, he is a mechanic/dealer specializing in expensive European automobiles, and lives with his family in a Brooklyn loft. Perennially angry but seemingly pleased with his life, Harry is a staunch believer in family and loyalty and never shies from picking a fight. However, Harry picks on the wrong guy when he slaps the horribly misbehaving child of another couple."
Quinto's last foray into television was in American Horror Story: Asylum as psychiatrist Dr. Oliver Thredson, which got Quinto his first Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Miniseries or a Movie.
Joining Quinto for the show is Emmy winner and Golden Globe nominee actor Brian Cox who will play a man named Manolis, the patriarch and peacemaker of the family. "He's a strong man with old world values, good-hearted and clearly devoted to his family," the official description of the character reads. Cox won an Emmy for best supporting actor for the television docudrama 'Nuremberg' back in 2000.
Previously cast for The Slap includes Peter Srasgaard and Mary-Louise Parker. The miniseries will have eight episodes, and an official release date has not yet been announced.
