Anna Kendrick Musical The Last 5 Years will premiere today at the Toronto International Film Festival!
Anna Kendrick's new movie 'Last 5 years', will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, September 7. The film will be based on a Broadway Musical by Tony Winner Jason Robert Brown.
The Last 5 Years has recently been acquired by Radius for its North American rights. Radius is a boutique label owned by the Weinstein company. This acquisition is one of the major deals done by the Toronto International Film Festival.
The Last 5 Years plot will be mostly musical and will dwell on the relationship between a husband and wife about the demise of their marriage from the successful writer husband's perspectives and his struggling actress wife.
The husband, Jamie, will be played by 'Smash' alum, Jeremy Jordan and the wife will be played by Anna Kendrick as Cathy. Director Richard LaGravenese is tasked to helm the film.
As mentioned, the film will be comprised mostly of songs, which came to popularity in Brown's 2002 Off-Broadway hit starring Norbert Leo Butz and Sherie Rene Scott.
Kendrick has been a very busy bee ever since she landed the role of Jessica in the Twilight saga series. And most notably for being nominated as an Oscar Best Supporting Actress contender, for her role in the George Clooney starrer, 'Up in the Air'. Of course, who wouldn't forget the smash hit Pitch Perfect. The film gave rise to Kendrick's talent in singing. Thus, she is currently known as Hollywood's musical-theater It Girl.
If you are in Toronto, the film will premiere at the Film Festival, September 7, 2014. Anna Kendrick Musical The Last 5 Years will hit regular theaters on February 15 - Valentine's Day 2015.
