The well-loved American political drama series "House of Cards" has been renewed for yet another season. Although it has not yet been confirmed, there are speculations that the series will premiere on Netflix in spring 2015. The "House of Cards" is an adaptation of the BBC miniseries of the same of a novel which was written by Michael Dobbs.
The first season which premiered on 1st February 2013 has 13 episodes and was streaming on the popular online streaming service, Netflix. For the 2nd season another 13 seasons premiered earlier in the year on 14th February and now in the works is the 3rd season of the series which is expected to premiere next year during spring. The renewal of the series was announced 10 days before the second season of the series premiered.
The setting of the series is the modern day Washington D.C. and it follows the story of Frank Underwood, a role played by Kelvin Spacey who is a Democrat in South Carolina's 5th congressional district and he plans to get himself in a higher seat of power. The main point of the series' plot is about a ruthless pragmatism, manipulation of others to achieve a goal, and the power to do things that are bad in order to get something better than that.
The television series is already receiving critical acclaim due to the numerous nominations and awards it has received. The actress Robin Wright has won two nominations for the Best Actress in drama series: the one in satelite awards and another one in Golden Globe Awards. Netflix, a streaming service is also popular for streaming another well-known and exciting television series like "Lilyhammer" and "Orange is the new Black."
The previous season of "House of Cards" finished dramatically where Underwood becomes the president of the United States, and it is expected that the third season will even take a darker turn as per rumors.
