The Flash TV Series Cast and News: Another Prison Break Star Joins Cast as Villain
It was announced yesterday that Prison Break star Dominic Purcell will be joining the cast of The Flash as Mick Rory also known as the villain Heatwave.
Heatwave will be Captain Cold's ally in the upcoming series. Coincidentally, Wentworth Miller, who plays Captain Cold, also starred in Prison Break. Purcell's character will be mentioned by Miller's Captain Cold on the fourth episode of The Flash and will get his first onscreen appearance on the series' tenth episode.
In the comics, Heatwave began his fascination with fire as a child. Fascination quickly became an obsession, then one night he sets fire to his own home. Instead of running to find help, he just watched his house burn down along with his family. Afterwards, he lived with his uncle. His pyromania didn't stop there as he locked one of his schoolmate in his house and setting it on fire. He ran away then and joined the circus as a fire eater. In his later life, he would take up the mantle of Heatwave and perform crimes within Central City. He was eventually confronted by The Flash, and the rest of their battles are history.
It is also important to note that in the coming TV series, they've decided to have Heatwave as an ally of Captain Cold, when in the comics they started out as adversaries, due to the fact that they are basically opposites of one another. Anyway, The Flash TV series is looking be very ambitious for its freshman run on television, and I'm sure I'm not the only one excited for it.
The Flash premieres on October 7 on The CW.
