Samsung Galaxy F Release, Latest News: Available in Stores Starting September
Samsung Galaxy Alpha, also known as Galaxy F and as Galaxy S5 Prime, will be launched worldwide starting September 12, 2014, according to Phone Arena. The new premium smart-phone, says NDTV Gadgets, will be globally released sequentially in over 150 countries. Samsung made the announcement as it unveiled the Galaxy Alpha, at an August 13 event in Russia, the first market where consumers will be able to pre-order the new gadget beginning August 15th. The eventual Samsung Galaxy Alpha price is estimated at around $690 off-contract.
With respect to the Samsung Galaxy Alpha specs, the South Korean multinational electronics company says its metal frame is built using "sophisticated and compact construction techniques." By far the thinnest in the Galaxy lineup, the handset has dimensions of 132.4x65.5x6.7mm and weighs 115 grams. It has a 4.7-inch HD (720x1280 pixels) Super AMOLED display and runs the latest Android 4.4.4 KitKat out-of-the-box. It also comes with the LTE Cat.6 support denoting LTE-A speeds of up to 300Mbps. In addition, it has other connectivity options including Micro-USB, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPRS/EDGE, 3G, and NFC. It is powered by an octa-core chipset with quad-core 1.8GHz and quad-core 1.3GHz. The Samsung Galaxy Alpha also comes in a quad-core variant with a clock speed of 2.5GHz. There is 2GB of RAM and 32GB inbuilt non-expandable storage.
The Galaxy Alpha comes with a 12-megapixel rear camera and a 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera. Like Samsung's flagship Galaxy S5, it also comes with a fingerprint scanner. It packs an 1860mAh battery. The Galaxy Alpha, said Samsung, "will be available in Charcoal Black, Dazzling White, Frosted Gold, Sleek Silver, and Scuba Blue colour variants." Samsung is open to answering pre-order and other inquiries at its Facebook and Twitter pages.
The Galaxy Alpha may come in different variants, according to Phone Arena, including AT&T and T-Mobile models. "By looking at the model numbers of previous Galaxy smartphones," notes the tech site, "we can assume that the SM-G850A is a Galaxy Alpha for AT&T, while the SM-G850T will find a home at T-Mobile. The SM-G850H and SM-G850F should be international versions."
