Marvel's Ant-Man Sneak Peak: First Look at Paul Rudd In The Title Role As Scott Lang
Marvel Studios recently released a first photo still showing Paul Rudd as Scott Lang in the comic book adaptation of Ant-Man. Famous for the many Judd Apatow movies he's done, Marvel fans can now have a look at Paul Rudd as a serious superhero. The first image of the comedic actor shows him near the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco infront of a van, looking all rugged and serious.
The upcoming film will be marking the first big screen appearance of Ant-Man in a Marvel movie, and is also part of Marvel's Phase 3 following the closing of Phase 2 with the release of Avengers: Age of Ultron May of next year.
The movie will revolve around Scott Lang, a reluctant superhero and a con-man as he comes in the aid of his mentor Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas); the original Ant-Man to safeguard his secret Ant-Man suit from escalating threats. Ant-Man, according to the Marvel comics is also a founding member of the Avengers.
The Ant-Man suit grants Scott Lang the powers to reshape himself, intensify his strength and the ability to interact with insects.
Despite the director change and other exits, Kevin Feige assures that production is smooth sailing now with Peyton Reed in the director's chair; after Edgar Wright left due to creative conflicts.
Reed known for non-superhero films, such as Bring It On and Yes Man may not be a superhero geek, but fans and Marvel are hopeful that Ant-Man will likely make the same success as Guardians of the Galaxy as it also had a director who wasn't a big Marvel guy.
The film also stars Evangeline Lily, Corey Stoll, Bobby Cannavale, Michael Peña, Abby Ryder Fortson, Judy Greer, David Dastmalchian, Wood Harris, John Slattery, T.I. and Gregg Turkington. And produced by Kevin Feige with Louis D'Esposito, Alan Fine, Victoria Alonso, Michael Grillo and Stan Lee as executive producer.
The film just started filming in San Francisco and is set for a July 17, 2015 release date.
