Brandon Blackstock, Ex-Husband of Kelly Clarkson and Former Stepson of Reba McEntire, Dies at 48

Brandon Blackstock, a well-known music industry figure, beloved father, and man of faith, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2025, after a courageous three-year battle with cancer. He was 48. Surrounded by family and close friends, Brandon entered into the presence of his Lord, whose guidance and grace were a constant source of strength throughout his life.
Born on December 16, 1976, Brandon was the son of music executive Narvel Blackstock and Elisa Gayle Ritter. He built a successful career as a talent manager, working with acclaimed artists including Blake Shelton, and served as CEO of Starstruck Entertainment, the company founded by his father.
Brandon was perhaps best known to the public as the former husband of Kelly Clarkson and the former stepson of country music legend Reba McEntire. Yet to those closest to him, he was first and foremost a loving father to his four children - Savannah, Seth, River, and Remington - and a proud grandfather.
His faith in Jesus Christ was central to his life, and he often spoke of God's provision through both seasons of blessing and trial. Even in the face of illness, Brandon remained steadfast, leaning on prayer, scripture, and the support of his loved ones.
Brandon's life will be celebrated in a private memorial service for family and close friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society or to the MusiCares Foundation in his memory.
He is survived by his parents, Narvel Blackstock and Elisa Gayle Ritter; his children Savannah, Seth, River, and Remington; his granddaughter; and extended family and friends who will cherish his memory.
