Greg Laurie’s Harvest Christian Fellowship Baptizes 2,000 at Iconic Pirate's Cove Beach

Harvest Ministries celebrated its second annual baptism event this past Saturday, July 27th, at the historic Pirate's Cove Beach in Corona Del Mar, CA. Approximately 2,000 people were baptized in a powerful and moving ceremony, assisted by Greg Laurie, the senior pastor of Harvest Ministries, alongside 65 pastors, deacons, and elders.
This event comes on the heels of Laurie's Harvest Crusade at Angel Stadium, which saw the venue filled to capacity and saw over 5,000 people make professions of faith. Over the last 12 months the combined Harvest Crusades and Jesus Revolution Baptism events have seen over 12,000 professions of faith and an impressive 6,500 people baptized at Pirate's Cove Beach.
Pastor Greg Laurie expressed his joy and gratitude, stating, "It is incredibly moving to witness so many lives transformed and committed to Christ. The spirit of revival that began with the 'Jesus Revolution' continues to touch hearts and draw people closer to God. Pirate's Cove has become a place of renewal and hope, and we are blessed to be part of this ongoing journey of faith."
Pirate's Cove is renowned as the site of thousands of baptisms during the Jesus Movement of the late 1960s and 1970s. Pastor Greg Laurie was baptized there during this historic revival and recounts his experiences in his 2018 book "Jesus Revolution," which inspired the hit 2023 film.
To those gathered waiting to be baptized, Laurie related the significance of the location to his own start in ministry, noting that it was at Pirate's Cove Beach, "as clear as day, [that] the Holy Spirit said to me, 'Preach the gospel,'" he said. "And so, I found myself preaching to these people up on the rocks. And the Lord was sort of giving me a glimpse into the future of what I was going to end up doing."
The event featured a series of worship sessions and testimonies, creating an atmosphere of profound spiritual connection and celebration. Sharing with his congregation the following Sunday, Laurie attributes this unprecedented response to the chaos in the world today: "There is just a lot of uncertainty in the air. And I think that the gospel is like fresh water in a thirsty land." He continued, "I see that God is working. As you know, the last great spiritual awakening, the Jesus Movement, happened in California, and we're praying, 'Lord, do it again.'"
