Ali Gilkeson, Formerly Of Rend Collective, To Release Children’s Book June 18, 2024

Families in search of encouraging and hopeful storybooks for their family reading times will be delighted by the imaginative new release from Ali Gilkeson formerly of the Irish folk band Rend Collective. Inspired by the band's platinum-selling song, "My Lighthouse," the storybook My Lighthouse: A Story of Finding Your Way Home (WaterBrook; on sale 6/18/24) promises to captivate and inspire.
Set against the enchanting backdrop of Gilkeson's homeland of Ireland, My Lighthouse: A Story of Finding Your Way Home weaves a tale of adventure and discovery, brought to life with whimsical illustrations by New York Times bestselling illustrator Lee Wildish.
The story follows Fynn, a young boy who has always lived in a lighthouse-just like his father, his grandfather, and his great-grandfather. While his dad sees the lighthouse as something special, Fynn views it as strange and inconvenient. Frustrated with his round house and longing for normalcy, Fynn decides to embark on an adventure at sea. However, when a storm hits and darkness surrounds him, Fynn realizes that the light he needs most is the one from his lighthouse home.
"I wanted to write a book that gave kids hope," says Gilkeson. "Fynn is a character who I feel a lot of us, especially kids, can relate to. He is a kid who doesn't like his house, his lighthouse, and essentially runs away to find adventure. In this day and age, there are a lot of children who feel lost and alone. My Lighthouse is a book that can bring joy and hope into that circumstance and start helping children understand that God is a safe guiding light who is constant and is always leading them home."
Children will be swept away in Fynn's adventure, while parents and caregivers will appreciate the underlying messages of hope and gratitude that shine through this endearing storybook.
Inspired by Rend Collective's beloved song, My Lighthouse: A Story of Finding Your Way Home is a memorable tale that families will treasure and return to time and again.
