Museum of the Bible Brings Narnia to Life with Prince Caspian World Touring Premier
Showcasing an array of breathtaking production elements-including life-size creatures, stunning costumes and flying trees-the world touring premier of C. S. Lewis' Prince Caspian is set for 56 performances at Museum of the Bible's World Stage Theater in Washington, D.C. Beginning March 1, Narnia will come to life in the museum's state-of-the-art venue, presented and produced by The Logos Theatre, a division of the nationally acclaimed The Academy of Arts Ministries in Taylors, South Carolina.
Prince Caspian continues the adventures of the four Pevensie children, who first discovered the land of Narnia in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe-the inaugural title in Lewis' beloved The Chronicles of Narnia series. Returning to Narnia to help its rightful king and heir, Prince Caspian, reclaim the land and take his throne, the siblings are swept into an epic adventure sure to captivate all ages.
From Caspian's courage to lead despite feelings of insufficiency; to Peter's willingness to face Miraz in battle; to Trumpkin's ultimate belief in Aslan and fight for Narnia, the heroic tale is depicted in a Broadway-caliber production faithful to Lewis' original story. The theatrical adaptation was written by Nicole Chavers Stratton, artistic director of The Academy of Arts Ministries.
"As I began to look for a script, I quickly realized that no one had ever made a full adaptation for this book, so after talking with the C.S. Lewis Company, I decided to try my hand at my first Narnia adaptation," Stratton shares. "I was fortunate to have my script vetted by Douglas Gresham, the stepson of C.S. Lewis, and enjoyed such a wonderful working relationship with him."
"One of the things I have always loved about this story is that Lewis gives us truly relatable people who face incredibly difficult circumstances and overcome them by using things that are available to us all-faith, hope, courage and self-sacrifice," Stratton continues. "Prince Caspian captures your heart on every level and lets you know that no matter what you're facing, you can overcome and choose to live a life of faith and courage."
"Few places in the world have the resources or personnel to incorporate the level of excellence and grandeur through puppetry that we do in our Narnia productions," explains Justin Swain, puppet master, The Logos Theatre. "From the Great Lion, Aslan, operated by a team of three puppeteers; to a full-scale galloping, rideable horse; to two life-size bears and a score of trees-some spanning 12 feet tall and walking, flying, dancing and fighting across the stage-these elements are choreographed together to produce an experience that will rival the best of Broadway and the West End's most iconic productions."
"There are so many amazing aspects to this production, but one thing that I've especially enjoyed is the soundtrack," adds Sam Singleton, who portrays Prince Caspian. "It truly captures the essence of the adventure, the danger, and the joy of this wonderful story. I also hope audiences will appreciate the quality of the show, as well as the power and application of the allegory. This story reminds us, most importantly, that we serve an excellent and mighty God!"
Prince Caspian will be presented at Museum of the Bible's World Stage Theater March 1-April 27, with tickets ranging from $69-$94. For showtimes and tickets, visit Museum of the Bible.
