Bethel Music's Kalley Heiligenthal Remembers Daughter Olive Three Years After Her Passing
Bethel Music's worship leader Kalley Heiligenthal and her husband Andrew's beautiful little girl, Olive Alayne, unexpectedly stopped breathing in her sleep three years ago today. The doctors have pronounced her as dead. Olive was 2 years old, vivacious, full of wonder, full of life. Nevertheless, Kalley Heiligenthal hopes that her daughter would be ressurected. However, Olive did not rise from the dead.
Kalley took on social media to thank fans for remembering her and her family today. "Such a beautiful outpouring of love comes on these days and we're so appreciative. What we could really use today is prayer."
She also took time to reflect upon her deceased daughter. "3 years since I've seen you, 3 years since you left. I hate this day. I hate December 14, the day that changed our lives forever. Like being forced underwater without knowing to take a deep breath. But you don't hate it. It was your best day. You took your last breath of this mixture air, were swept up by pure light, the colors you woke to we only dream of in this shadow life. You were gathered up by your Father while your father and mother here fell and shattered.
"Our tears flooded while yours were wiped away. I hate this day, but it was a good day for you. And your day is more true than mine. There will come a time when we see and understand how fleeting these moments are here, when we see what you see. A day when the colors drown out the grey scale of grief and when we are made whole once and for all, in the presence of one another and that Father who makes bad days new. Oh what a day that will be. But today is still hard, and that's okay too. I miss you every day, Olive."
A veteran member of the Bethel Music worship collective, Kalley Heiligenthal also serves as a second-year worship pastor at Bethel's School of Supernatural Ministry. Co-writer of the popular praise anthem "Ever Be," which was nominated for a 2017 Dove Award for Worship Song of the Year, Kalley's "Every Crown" is featured on Bethel Music's latest Dove-nominated, best-selling compilation VICTORY. She is part of "The VICTORY Tour," hitting 10 cities across the country this fall. Showcased on Bethel Music's first Spanish language release, Bethel Music En Español, singing "Por Siempre" and "Sopla Espíritu," Kalley is also featured on the Bethel Music compilations Starlight (2017), Have it All (2016) and We Will Not Be Shaken (2015).
