Writer & Director Sandra Martin Chats About the New Movie "IT'S CHRISTMAS AGAIN"

Fathom Events announces the debut of the new Christmas movie, IT'S CHRISTMAS AGAIN, a special one-night event coming to theaters Tuesday, November 29 at 7:00pm local time. Starring Lawson Touliatos (ON THE COME UP, SUPER SCIENCE SHOWCASE), Leela Owen ("Doom Patrol," JUST BEYOND), Dimitri Mareno (ATL HOMICIDE, HAYSEED) and Reina Ozbay ("The Chosen," "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel"), IT'S CHRISTMAS AGAIN will bring the joy and true meaning of Christmas to theaters across the country.
We are honored to be able to catch up with the movie's writer and director Sandra Martin for this exclusive interview.
Q: Sandra, thank you for doing this interview. Let's start with yourself, tell us a little about your background and your involvement in the film industry.
My husband, Isaac Alongi, and I started producing films in 2014. My husband is a cinematographer and had been working on projects for other people. We eventually decided that we wanted to do our own projects, where we could tell the stories we thought were important.
Q: Why did you decide to write a Christmas movie?
It's obvious that people love Christmas movies and I thought what a wonderful time to talk about Jesus and the way he came to Earth.
Q: Do you have a favorite scene in this movie?
I love all the musical numbers they were so fun to film and I loved working with other creatives like the songwriters, choreographers and dancers. The one scene where I think there's such a sweet moment is when the shepherds find Jesus, it's lovely and at the end Reina Ozbay sings a lullaby to Jesus.
Q: In directing this movie, what were some of your challenges?
The weather was definitely challenging. We filmed in the winter so we could take advantage of the Christmas decorations and the natural climate, but with that came very cold temperatures, we had lots of outdoor filming. We also had unexpected ice and snow in Nashville a couple of days which then cancelled one of our locations last minute.
Q: What were some of your joys in directing this film?
Like I said earlier I really enjoyed working with so many talented people on this film. I also enjoy doing films that are more targeted for a younger audience and most of our main cast is made up of young people. I love the energy and enthusiasm they bring to set!
Q: What do you think is the take-home message of this movie?
I hope the take away is that we all remember why we're celebrating Christmas and also to be more generous. There's a song in the movie, Reach Out a Hand, and it's call to do just that.
Q: How can churches and Christians watch this movie?
If your church is too far from a theater or anywhere after Nov. 29th you can bring It's Christmas Again to your church or school and watch as a group! Go to https://faithcontentnetwork.com/host/its-christmas-again.
Tickets for IT'S CHRISTMAS AGAIN can be purchased online here and at participating theater box offices. For more information on the film and the soundtrack, visit itschristmasagainmovie.com and follow on social media at @itschristmasagainmovie.
