Darlene Zschech, Brandon Lake, Kim Walker-Smith, Paul Baloche & Others Offer Condolences in Response to the Passing of Beni Johnson
Bethel Church's co-senior pastor Beni Johnson has died on July 13th after a bout with cancer. She was 67 years-old. Bethel Church is a megachurch in Redding, California with over 11,000 members. The church has its own music labels, Bethel Music and Jesus Culture ministries, which have gained popularity for contemporary worship music.
Beni's son Brian Johnson writes, "My mom went home tonight. Love you mom!"
Beni Johnson is survived by her husband, three children and 11 grandchildren.
Many pastors, worship leaders, and Christian music artists have expressed their condolences:
Darlene Zschech:
"We love you and your family and are so so sad to hear this. Our heartfelt prayers are with you all the way. Beni encouraged me deeply and personally on my own cancer journey."
Brandon Lake:
"I'm grateful Beni's fingerprints are on my life. She will be missed greatly. I hear her voice in my head all the time reminding me to take communion. To think she's been a voice that's reminded me to commune with the father more frequently...what an impact. Love you Pastor Bill. What the enemy meant to harm, God means for good."
Paul Baloche:
"Our hearts grieve with you. Prayers for you and your family. She was such an inspiration to us and so many."
Kim Walker-Smith:
"She was such a blessing. I'm so thankful for her life. She encouraged me with something very specific, many, many years ago. That encouragement is something I remind myself of regularly and have held onto. What a beautiful legacy. Love you Bill."
Beckah Shae:
"Thank you Beni for a life well lived. Your Brilliant love for all that is good inspired so many! I love you for seeking the King and for seeing me. My heart is that much more in a ready position, my ears are all the more keen, my eyes are all the more razor sharp... Eternity is our Home! And I'm Looking forward to Forever! See Ya Soon Mighty Warrior!"
Sean Feucht:
"There was no one in the world like Beni! She was one of the greatest encouragers of my life! She was a prayer warrior, a joyful intercessor, a kind heart that fought for the best in people. Our family mourns with you as heaven rejoices at their addition."
Steffany Gretzinger:
"Oh my. Blessed be The Name of The Lord for Beni's life! Felt heaven like a low hanging cloud all day as we prayed for you all. Just like when My Daddy went to Glory. `Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders....' We love you, Bill. Eric, Brian, Leah.... The entire family. We grieve and rejoice with you."
Rita Springer:
"Grateful for her extraordinary life and call to prayer! What a gift she was to all of us. Praying for you all."
Lindy Cofer:
"Praying for you guys. Words fall short... what a wonderful woman who's legacy will live in through so many. She truly disciplined millions through her simple yes's."
Kalley Heiligenthal:
"What a gift she is. We are rejoicing in her union with Jesus and praying comfort, peace and the felt nearness of the good Shepherd over you and your family. We love you, Pastor Bill. And we love Beni."
Katie Torwalt:
"So incredibly sorry friends, so thankful for her and her wisdom and sensitivity to the Spirit. We learned so much from her and her love for Jesus! Heaven must be celebrating her today."
Kristen DiMarco:
"Beni made me feel at home immediately in Redding 14 years ago , taught me a more sustainable, joyful way to pray and in the middle of a deep disappointment of mine she was the first one there to promise me this day ,you see pictured, would come .
I'm deeply thankful for her life and always will be."
Phil Wickham:
"So sorry Bill. Praying over you and the family. Love you all."
Bobbie Houston:
"Oh -- we are so sorry. Deepest love from Brian and myself and family. "
Jeremy Riddle:
"Tears. Love you both so much."
Benny Hinn:
"I was saddened to learn the news that Beni Johnson, the wife of my dear friend, Bill Johnson, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday. Bill and Beni have touched untold multitudes through their dynamic ministry at Bethel Church in Redding, California, and have built numerous campuses and outreach ministries.
"Bill is a fifth-generation pastor with a rich heritage in the Holy Spirit. He and Beni have been pastors of Bethel Church since 1996 with a one-word mission statement: revival. Bill's priority in life has been to learn how to host the presence of God and minister to Him.
"In addition to being such an integral part of Bethel Church and its many outreaches, Beni's amazing legacy is so beautifully accentuated by the precious family they have raised. She leaves behind three children and eleven grandchildren, - many of whom work in the worldwide ministry they founded.
"Join me in praying for the comfort and peace of the precious Holy Spirit as they prepare to celebrate the wonderful life of Beni Johnson."
